Mugs…

The accomplice to every caffeine addict.

Unless creating commissioned work, I like to use mugs as a way to test out new surface designs, glaze combinations, and clay bodies. Mugs are the item of functional pottery that I interact with the most, so I get a really good sense of how I like a new technique and what needs to be adjusted. I will never throw just one shape of a mug body, since I know everyone enjoys holding a slightly different mug!
